The Port of Mostyn Ltd
The Port of Mostyn is privately owned and operated. It is a Statutory Harbour Authority and is also the Pilotage Authority for the Dee Estuary.
Port Location
Located on the south bank of the Dee Estuary in North Wales, the Port is served by a good road links to the motorway network, M53 and M6, providing excellent connections to the international airports at Liverpool and Manchester.
In addition to the road and motorway network connections, the Port is also directly connected to the national rail network by the adjacent Holyhead - Crewe main railway line; the nearest station being at Flint, just 15 minutes drive from the Port.
Recent Development Programmes
Over the past decade the Port has undertaken several major infrastructure developments including the construction of a 500 metre length of riverside berth to provide direct lock free access to the extensive cargo handling and storage areas including a Roll On - Roll Off Terminal and a purpose built rivercraft berth for transporting the wings for the Airbus A380 aircraft.
These developments, which now provide an area of 75 acres, has enabled the Port to meet the changing needs of its customers, ranging from unitised to conventional general cargoes and more specialised project cargo handling, particularly those required for the growing offshore renewable energy sector
Offshore Windfarm Construction
The construction of these new facilities has seen The Port of Mostyn develop as an important base for Irish Sea Offshore Windfarm Construction and Support Services.
In recent years the construction of six Irish Sea offshore windfarms has been undertaken from The Port of Mostyn, the most distant (98 nautical miles) being the Robin Rigg project located in the Solway Firth between the Cumbrian and Scottish coasts.

The expansion of the offshore renewable energy sector has resulted in additional supporting services being established within the Port to take advantage of its prime location in the Irish Sea. These new businesses include diving and sub-sea engineering, steel fabrication, civil engineering and electrical services.
