New Deputy Harbour Master Appointed - Rob Jackson
The Port of Mostyn would like to welcome Rob Jackson who takes up the role of Deputy Harbour Master/Pilot effective from March 2017. Rob joined the Merchant Navy at 16 as a cadet with Clyde Marine Training working on various vessels while sponsored by Northern Marine Management (NMM) and attending Glasgow College of Maritime Studies (GCNS). Qualified as 2nd Officer at 19 years old and sailed as 3rd Officer on the Maiden Voyage of a VLCC from Nagasaki shipyard. He has sailed on a variety of vessels with NMM up to the rank of 2nd Officer until 1996. Obtained Chief Officers certificate from John Moores University and promoted to Chief Officer at age 24 on a 424,000 DWT ULCC for Tankship Transport, whilst there he obtained his Masters License unlimited at GCNS. Rob later moved to Dubai as a Conversion Specialist, converting VLCC’s to FPSO’s at Dubai Drydocks, then returned to sea with BP for 2 years before becoming Master on an FPSO in Equatorial Guinea for 8 years with HESS UK.
