Proven Expertise: The Airbus A380 Wing Hub Project
A prime example of our capabilities is our support to Airbus in the logistics of their A380 wings. These massive structures, nearly 50 meters long, 14 meters wide, and weighing 96 tons each, were manufactured at the Airbus UK factory in Broughton, just 15 miles upstream from the Port of Mostyn. Due to their size, these wings were required to be transported by sea to the final assembly facility in Toulouse, France.
The Port of Mostyn played a crucial role in this process, supporting the development of specialised infrastructure, including a purpose-built low draft river craft, dedicated terminals and berths to accommodate the wings. Upon arrival at the Port, the wings were carefully stored in a purpose-built facility before being loaded onto a sea-going Roll-on/Roll-off vessel for their onward delivery to Toulouse.
